How to make your own seed tape

If you ever wondered why you would bother: "The intent of seed tape as I’ve seen it is to make planting easier when you have teeny tiny seeds that need to be planted just inches apart (like carrots and radishes). But it’s also fun for gifting flower seeds or giving away seeds you’ve collected from your own garden. And it’s a pretty simple and very kid-friendly project."

I did this last year with my carrots and onions, so I wouldn't have to thin them. I'd seen the flour paste/newspaper method, but since I was making it to plant immediately, I just used two sheets of TP cut the length of the small plot - on one, a seed and a tiny dab of water to make it stic, and when I was finished, I covered it with the other one, which stuck to the water as well - then into the garden, covered with a light dusting of soil.

My backyard plot has a slight grade, and this helped keep everything where I wanted it during spring rains. Unfortunately, the garden didn't do too well last summer for other reasons, but the seed "tape" was a very useful tool that I might well use again.
