do either of you two care to reveal anything about your entries?

Very cool...I will be attending tomorrow. Will the board members have anything to identify them at the Mac Smackdown?

It was indeed a blast.
First Place:
version with braised oxtail, by Chef James Gottwald from Rockit. This was also my personal favorite.
Second Place:
Amalia Obermeier Smith’s (of Kuma’s Corner fame) creamy and tasty dish with morels, cayenne, and more.
Third Place:
I’d like to thank the Academy, my wife, my mother, and all the support I received from the wonderful people at LTHForum.

I gave two of my tickets to the first place winner...that was a lovely flavorful mac and cheese. No. 8 was interesting too...had a hint of nutmeg in it. Do you know if the recipes will be published anywhere? I would love that oxtail one.

qofu2,
Mine was #7, "Mac alla Vicenza". It had a gorgonzola-truffle cream sauce and stravecchio-truffle-crumb topping. It did also have a good hit of nutmeg.
They had us all submit recipes, so I hope they get published somewhere too. I'm with you on wanting the oxtail recipe.
Kennyz
P.S. sorry we didn't get a chance to meet.
Mhays wrote:Thanks, especially, to elakin for posting the original thread that got us involved - Sparky has recovered from his small disappointment at not getting a trophy, and is pretty excited about the whole thing. It was a lot of fun - I've never seen such a crush over Mac and Cheese in my life!
Sorry to have missed all the LTHers who attended (except Kenny and elakin, who were good company,) I was busy kid-wrangling for a lot of it...
Mhays wrote:Right - but those who were there were pretty motivated! We were trapped in our booth for quite a while, and Sparky dealt with the crowds by hiding under a table near the stage.I only got to taste about 10 or so entries (and I have to say I liked ours the best -#18- poo on you, Kenny!

If you had posted your extra ticket here, it would have found a new owner really fast.
