Based on some of the discussions on this board, I'm organizing a group of about 14 people for dinner at Bhabi's Kitchen on Saturday. When I called to make the reservation, Mr. Sayed (sp?) said something about charging $20 per person and that would include bread, appetizers and most entrees except grilled items. That sounds like a terrific deal so I just wanted to make sure I heard it right. When he first explained it, I thought he said it would be $20 a head on top of the entrees for just the appetizers and bread. But I think he meant $20 a person for appetizer, bread, entree. So I'd be interested in hearing from other large group experiences to know that I understand this correctly.

    Hi,

Have you been to Bhabi's? Your group will shut down the restaurant or come close to it. I've heard here on the this board their plans to expand, though I don't know if it has occurred yet.

I was to Bhabi's only once last year with Erik M and my Mom. The place is so tiny, he needs every table to turn over. This is not a large place where you can linger after dinner and not affect the bottom line. While we were dining, there was a table next to us drinking wine and chatting after finishing their dinner. People were being turned away while this group enjoyed their drinks. If the conditions are the same, I would suggest having a secondary place in your plans to go to after dinner to continue socializing and drinking. You will still have your good deal and they can have additional income from the freed up tables.

    Regards,

Bhabi's has expanded and can now comfortably handle 50+ people, I'd say.

I would call Mr. Syed back and confirm either way. I know he reads LTH from time to time, so you might get a PM from him, but calling would be the most sure-fire way.

Prices have gone up since the remodeling, too. I don't think he's having any problems making a profit even when tables dawdle.

I'm going to stop in this week to put a deposit down and review the menu as Mr. Syed requested so I will confirm with him about the per person price. I just wasn't sure I was hearing right and wanted to see if anyone had the large group experience.
Many of us are going to a concert later, so I don't think we'll be dawdling a huge amount of time.
