It has already been well established that Silver Seafood is back in the game. This is just an up-to-the-minute confirmation.
Ended up there to meet the new-in-town-doctoral-student-and-wife-friends-of-the-family posted about earlier. Terrific people, terrific meal.
The place was busy but not crazy, and our waiter, thankfully, was one of the staff with fairly good English. We didn't venture much beyond the standards, because we were introducing new folks, and how can you not get the standards under those circs.?
So -
* Salt/spicy squid and cuttlefish -- beautiful golden brown, just chewy enough, nicely seasoned, not too greasy and brightened to the eye and the tongue by a colorful scattering of chopped green and red chilis.
* Steamed dumplings for the 5 year old - wonderfully shaped, toothsome with fresh fillings with individual flavors and textures -- not just generic "filling" mush that you can sometimes get in a dumpling.
* Hollow veg. with garlic: as it should be -- glistening, crunchy, salty and wafting a heady cloud of garlic about our grateful heads
* spare ribs with black peper sauce -- we usually get the spicy/salt version, but the waiter wanted us to try them this way. Very good, but I still prefer the salt/spice treatment
* crispy duck: crispy, very meaty and tender - even more so than in times past when the meat to bone ration was sometimes an issue
* sea bass with scallion and ginger - aromatic, perfectly moist, delicious
Even the Heineken was a cut above. I don't drink it that often, partly because it often seems a bit stale when I get it, as if it doesn't move fast enough, or get properly stored. These bottles actually seemed fresher and crisper than your avg. Heineken.
Happy tongues and tummies all around. (Not to mention leftovers!) And under $100 for 4 adults and a child, tax and tip incl.
