Willowbrook rec.? family occasion

My friend is having her daughter christened in mid October. The church is in Willowbrook. I think there will be around 30 people, with only a couple of kids. Are there any restaurants to accomodate this group in a private or semi-private setting? I do not know any more details about the church. To give you an idea of what she is looking for, she was considering Pompeii at Oakbrook, but they aren't available that date. Italian preferred, I think, but any suggestions will be passed on.

Not that I am recommending any of them for the food, but here are some places in that area that fit the semi private / private requirement.

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen - Cajun themed seafood
Maggiano's - Italian
Mon Ami Gabi - French bistro fare
Carlucci's in Downers Grove - Italian
Wildfire - Steakhouse
Clubhouse - American Grill


I've eaten at all of these places multiple times and can find something I can tolerate on all menus. Personally, I would take the short trek over to Carlucci's if Italian is what you are looking for.

Buona Sera (on Ogden Ave in Westmont)

There are a lot of top-notch Italian caterers in the area. Another option would be to use a room at the church and have the meal catered...

Not italian, but White Fence Farm might be an appropriate place. Always a nice outing there with plenty of rooms and the food is good.

Again not italian but plenty of rooms...Emmett's Ale House in downtown DG.

Ok, italian, or at least European...Cafe Trucchi is taking over for Isabella at Main & Curtiss in downtown DG and would probably do something to accomodate a group your size.

Ok, no plate throwing at me...there's always Buca di Beppo up at Yorktown. Food's not that bad and it can be a fun place for a group.

A few months ago I had a very satisfying meal at Carlucci's. I can't compare it with the others, but as a mid-range restaurant, it was superior and fairly creative Italian cuisine.

I had a few nice meals at Carlucci when it opened. The last one, not so much. But I didn't mean to suggest it was bad. It's pretty good. Just not as good as the Tuscany in OB (which by the way is the best Stefani place, for my money, since the namesake place closed).

Not too far is Greco's in Willow Springs. They do private parties in the restaurant dining rooms, dependent on timing, etc...

A simple restaurant with good food is D. Rhea's Chicken Basket--the food is very tasty--but very simple....a variety-- even oysters-with fried chicken the specialty. Johanna Brocker
