Gave the new Zab Thai Kitchen (means "delicious" in Thai) in Evanston a shot last night (next to Kuni's and Oceanique on Main), and was pleasantly surprised. No hidden menu according to our server, but a nice assortment of specials. I had the Chili Jam Mussels ($11), which upon request had a nice heat level to balance the sweetness; Barb had their Sizzling Duck ($9) which is indeed served on a heated metal platter and was nicely crunchy. Little bit pricey for the portion sizes, but service was very good and they did a great job remodeling the former antique store into a classy space. It's from the same family as Thai Aroma on Broadway. Sorry we didn't have our camera with us!

Thanks, Brent. I literally walk past Zab twice a day, and have the to-go menu right here on my desk, but hadn't gotten around to pulling the trigger.

Evanston being Evanston, I must ask - do they have a liquor license?

Should have mentioned they're BYO for now; they're waiting for their license.
