Bar/Food on the way/at Comiskey?

Post #1 - August 11th, 2005, 5:54 pmI'm going to a Sox game on Monday and am departing from the Chicago red line station. Are there any good bars (preferably with food and good happy hours) on the way or of the 35th st. stop? Thanks.

Post #2 - August 11th, 2005, 6:42 pmMy favorite pregame stop in the area is Cobblestones on 39th street, I believe it is at Wallace or just east of there, Certainly is walking distance, Above average bar food and sandwiches. There is a small parking lot adjacent, accessible form 39th/Pershing. Kevins Hamburger heaven is nearby, but I dont think you will get a drink there.

Post #3 - August 11th, 2005, 11:26 pmCobblestone’s sounds like a good suggestion (always wondered about it, never went) except that it might be a bit out of your way when taking the Red Line. This thread from soxtalk.com has a pretty good list of Bridgeport bars. If none of those strike your fancy, as a backup you might consider Berghoff’s bar, very close to the Jackson stop, for a beer and/or bourbon and a sandwich.

both for drinks...
for food I almost always hit Chinatown, or eat Elotes and a Kosher Dog in Sox park.
