Hi all, grad school starts up next week and I'll have classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6-9 PM.

I go to John Marshall so I'm at Jackson and Plymouth Ct.

Besides, Ada's, Millers Pub, Manhatten, Italian Village and Hackney's, does anyone have any suggestions to grab a bite after classes?

I live in the West Loop and I have no problem walking from school to my loft.

    Thanks in advance...

It's probably a bit far to walk, but White Palace Grill is open 24/7

Well, there's the South Loop Club (Balbo and State) for sliders and such. And maybe the Butcher's Dog still has its kitchen going well into the evening (Clark 'twixt Harrison and Polk). A fancier sort of a restaurant is Russian Tea Time on Jackson, I think... just across Michigan on the southside of one of the cross streeets by the Art Institute... And how 'bout Exchequer on Wabash near Van Buren... also Blackie's at the corner of Clark and Polk...

George Diamond's is still closed...

Ha-ha...the grade school I went to, St. Augustine (50th and Laflin) had a bowling alley (8 lanes, fully automated, A.M. Betz Mgr.)
Each year my dad would take my older brother and me to Universal's on Wabash to get a new, used bowling ball and then across the street to George Diamond for lunch. I still have fond memories of my groovy red white and blue bicentennial bowling ball!

Well, there's the South Loop Club (Balbo and State) for sliders and such.

Just the other day I was at State & Balbo around 10pm looking for something to eat. There’s a Got Pizza on State but a glance at their sad $3.50 slices cured me of that desire. So I went around the corner to the South Loop Club. They claim Best Burgers in Chicago and cook them over charcoal (briquettes) so I wondered how bad could they be. Pretty bad, it turns out. The patties are prefabricated and preblackened. At first I thought they were toasting a piece of black bread on the grill but unfortunately it was my burger. If only they used a plain piece of meat it probably would have been fine but those “Cajun spices” were nasty.

And maybe the Butcher's Dog still has its kitchen going well into the evening (Clark 'twixt Harrison and Polk).

I never heard of Butcher’s Dog. Thanks for mentioning it, that could come in handy one of these days.

    George Diamond's is still closed...

Very closed. Here’s a recent picture of their window with dust-covered, water-stained clippings and postcards probably predating the Nixon administration. I bet George Diamond’s in Acapulco was quite a place.

Since you live in the West Loop... I believe avec's kitchen is open fairly late, and so is Carmichael's.

Altho it's far from the creme de la creme of Thai restaurants, Taste of Siam in the Telegraph Bldng on Dearborn usually does the job for me when I'm looking for a late take-out in the area (altho check their hours--depending on the day they may close a little after 9:00). Moreover, IMHO, their stuffed wings are primo.

Also, there's a Harold's on Wabash nearby, but they may close around 9:00, too.
