I have recently moved to Chicago and interested in learning about some moderately priced restaurants - in particular, Thai and French.
Any suggestions on "not-to-be-missed Chicago restaurants?"

    Thanks.

Well, you have three more nights to not miss Tournesol before it closes.

Here's a pretty good bistro thread, which will mention a certain restaurant that closes in three days a lot.

As for Thai... you should search and dig on your own. Half this board's about Thai food, start by looking for Spoon, TAC, Thai Aree, Aroy, Thai Avenue, and Thai Grocery....

Well, the first thing you should do is look in the "Great Neighborhood Restaurants" section, where you'll see 29 restaurants the community here feels deserve special recognition.

There are two thai restaurants listed, but add Sticky Rice, Thai Avenue, Aroy Thai, Yum Thai, Thai Aree, and Siam's House to that list. You should be able to have great meals at any of them. Check http://www.silapaahaan.com for translated menus for the bulk of them.

For French, I like the sister restaurants Le Bouchon and La Sardine, both in Chicago proper, and Hemmingway's, in Oak Park.
