We received a $100 gift certificate for Vong's and I looked around only to discover that Jean-Georges had his hands in it. Find that intriguing.

So can someone who has eaten there tell me a little more please?

    TIA.

Yep. Thai Kitchen(the name of the newer incarnation) was orig. a Chicago take on his Manhatten restaurant(s). It wasn't doing well so they downscaled it.

The food at Vong's Thai Kitchen, or VTK, was delicious last time I was there, although it's been more than a year.

The "downscaling" seemed to consist of some changes to the decor, more casual service (the manager said, "We used to bring changes of silverware out on a tray. Now we just hand you a fork") and removing the most expensive items, such as lobster, from the menu.

Otherwise, the food seemed fairly similar to the previous incarnation, and Vongerichten still plays a hand in developing the menus. It's not Thai so much as Asian fusion, with fresh ingredients and zingy flavor combinations.

If they have it, don't miss the passion-fruit souffle.
