Help! I need an alternative to L. Woods

So even though it's my birthday, I can't pick a good non-American place for dinner, in order to accomodate a couple of older folks who think a potato sprinkled with parsely flakes is exotic.

We're on a crash course with L Woods, but I'd really rather not go there for oh so many reasons. Any suggestions for a non-threatening, non-crowded restaurant for a Sunday night dinner with 80-somethings?

I have the same dilemma quite often. L Woods is generally one of the go-to spots.

In the same general area (near North Shore) I would also suggest Myron & Phil's and EJ's.

M & P's is a decent Jewish-style steakhouse that get's mentioned on this board from time-to-time. Generally good steaks and chops, but the real reason to go is for the chopped liver, onions, and pickled tomatoes that start off the meal. I do not think they accept reservations, though.

EJ's is a pure steakhouse with decent chicken and fish offerings in a woodsy-lodge setting. It's part of the Gene & Georgetti's family.

FYI, Myron & Phil's does take reservations...especially for a larger group.

Altho it looks like Walter's is closed on Sunday evenings ; I haven't been there in a while but the kitchen is very competent and it seemed VERY popular with the, um, very-life-experienced group. I've never been to Elliott's, but stevez said something nice about it in the value steak thread. Don's is fine, if unexciting, and everything I've ever had there has been fresh & well prepared.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everybody. We ended up at the Logan Square Father and Son's which fit our needs nicely: uncrowded, easy parking, "inoffensive" cuisine. I'll refer back to this thread though for future outings; I've never been to any of them (driven past hundreds of times!).

OK, obligations done, I'm off to Sticky Rice, Taqueria Puebla, Vien Dong to recallibrate my system!
