I'll have the good fortune of visiting the Argyle Broadway neighborhood Wednesday evenings for the next couple of months. Any recommendations for items that can stand up to a 20 to 30-minute trip to the near Southside, occasionally on the Red Line, without sacrificing their glory?

    A couple of notes:

1). Tank Noodle is closed on Wednesdays.
2). I probably won't be able to place any orders earlier than 8:45.
3). Sun Wah BBQ has been tested and passed with flying colors. Any other worthy contenders at SW?

    Thanks.

How about Thai Avenue? I have ordered carry out and driven it out to the burbs in the past.

    Thai Grocery fer sure.

One of the most amazing sets of Thai food in the city. It's in the back of the store, a steam table with a dai;ly assortment of five or so curries. You can get 3 with rice for less than a sawbuck (and I usally get two meals out of it). Many of the curries resemble nothing you may see in typical Thai restaurants, and all of the curries are much more dominated by vegetables than meat. I can honestly say, I have never found one I do not like, but many are also hot, funky, and otherwise not so "normal."

The green dip or nam prik's been mentioned before (by me and others), and with a few fresh veggies, is quite a meal in its own right.
