Someone from Spain told me that it was very good. Any opinions?

i assume this is referring to 1492 tapas bar in Gold Coast? I was there 2 wks ago, first time. Probably won't be back. Ordered half a dozen plates, only 2 were memorable (Garlic shrimp and... the grilled spanish sausage). the portions, as per 'tapas' style, were diminuitive and w/o the bread, i would've been still starving at the end.

From what i've read, there are superior tapas offerings in town (Babareeba not being 1 of 'em). the menu can be found here.

I was there once, about 6 months ago. Most dishes were average at best, often surpassed by places like Iberico which are known more for their atmosphere than their food. Service was abysmal. I won't be back.

Have been there a couple of times actually, as I used to work right by there.

Food is nothing too exciting, although certainly not bad (I think the food at Iberico is better though). Service was awful. It's actually a pretty nice space, but thats probably the best thing I can say about it.

I had no complaints about the service when I was there about a year ago, but I won't go back because they don't include morcilla in their sausage collection. When I asked the waiter about this omission, he told me that they had decided to stop serving morcilla [blood sausage] because few people who ordered the sausage tapas would eat it.

I remember some sort of beef tidbits being good, as were the camarones a la plancha.

Trixie-pea and I used to recommend this place whenever
anyone would ask what's the best place for tapas in
the city. Unfortunately, each time we've gone back, it
has always gotten progressively worse. The only thing
I still enjoy about 1492 is its not-too-sweet sangria. The service is, no doubt, indifferent.
As far as basically everything else, it ranks as one
of the worst food-value places in the city.
