I have recently developed an addiction to pho noodles... but it seems that the only places that seem to serve them are in the city (and a few in the S/SW suburbs). It probably costs me more in gas to go to these places in the city and takes more time to drive then to eat and I'd rather appreciate it if anyone knew of any places closer to me and let me in on it.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

This is a periodic question with almost no answer you will like.

My mantra: Chicago is really close by.

As mentioned in that other thread, Saigon de Manila, at Milwaukee & Golf, doesn't suck, but it's not a mind-expanding experience.

If I'm in that neighborhood, there's about six other places higher on my list to eat, but I rarely crave pho as badly as, say falafel or paneer masala or tacos de cecina.

As mentioned here, My Green Kitchen, at Higgins and Cumberland in Park Ridge has pho. And not quite in the suburbs -- but almost -- Nam Viet in Edison Park, mentioned in the same post, has very good Vietnamese food; I can't recall if they offer pho, but it seems likely.

    LAZ,

I've had pho at Nam Viet at lunch, it's been a few years and I don't recall if pho is lunch only. Though I agree, it seems likely Nam Viet has pho on their regular dinner, as well as lunch, menu.

    Enjoy,

One of the three stands in the International Mall in Westmont is Vietamese. Pho is their main product. I've never tried it. I'm too busy eating fresh made donuts with hot soy milk, with a side of stinky tofu (and that fried fish, sigh...) to ever try the Vietamese. But I should. It always looks good.

I ate there some time ago, to be honest this post may be too old to be of much use, but maybe it will spur discussion

I love the International Mall. The Vietnamese stand zim refers to in his chowhound post is quite good. But nothing beats that dumpling stand a few counters down.

There's a noodle house next to Valley Produce in Schaumburg. Higgins and Roselle.

I drove by there last night and there was a new banner tacked on to their awning proclaiming that they have "authentic" Pho.
