I stumbled across this place today (W. 51st @ S. California), and couldn't resist the siren's call of the name and sign. SubPort offers a number of types of subs, but I had to try the signature Roast Beef "Super": 12-inch sesame bun, loaded with roast beef and all the trimmings (lettuce, onions, tomatoes, vinegar/olive oil dressing and Swiss cheese) at $6. I ordered it cold.

I'll be back when I'm in the neighborhood.

Appetizing indeed, but when (arguably) the best branch of La Quebrada is across the street, I don't know if I'll ever convince myself to try it.

Mmmm, craving La Quebrada right about now... maybe I'll go tomorrow.

Is this place a chain? I was pretty sure I saw one last night on Archer near Kedzie, I think. Not too far from 51st and Cal. but not quite there. I wonder how many there are across the S. Side.

    Best,
    Michael / EC
