    Sounds delicious!

I hate to say this, but I'm still undecided on dessert - but have it narrowed to two things:
Key Lime Cake (trying to locate a few quirky ingredients)
    or
    Blueberry Lime Curd Tart

Lime is, obviously, the common denominator.

    Looking forward to Monday.

Not sure if this is a "market -inspired surprise" ( :) ), but I made a rhubarb roulade, or put less fancily, a jelly roll filled with rhubarb puree. Looking forward to tomorrow!

After lots of back and forth and a visit to the market, here's what for dinner on Monday. Note that it's very, very light. Let me know if you need more substance but I figure we want plenty of room for sweet treats.

Prairie Heritage Farms baby lettuces with fresh parsley, two mints, cucumbers and lemon vinaigrette

Asparagus from - shoot I blanked on the farm - they were towards the west near Clark St. - baked with browned butter and parmigiano reggiano

Pane Siciliano (semolina and sesame bread) that I am baking myself

Sounds perfect! Thanks for hosting . . .

I want to cry. I now realize that I am missing a key ingredient for my recipe and am simply too exhausted after being out of town for my brother's wedding this weekend. I'm sorry for the late notice. The dinner menu and dessert contributions sound so good! Can't wait to see pictures!

I want to cry too but for different reasons...I think my cheesecake might not be as tasty as it was in the past because I decided to change the oven temperature for some reason. It looks good though, so go easy on me...

I guess this is the week for crying...Instead of the layered tart I mentioned above, I'm brining a cake with the same flavors. I just couldn't get the tart dough to work for me...I think my kitchen was too warm. Anyway, I'm bringing a (short) peanut, banana, caramel and chocolate layer cake. It's not the prettiest cake in world, but I think it will be tasty. (That's what counts right?)

Delicious mishaps might end up being the theme of this exchange. I just peeked at the cake and all of the marshmallows are bunching up in the middle and floating to the top. I don't know how I'm supposed to spread the peanut butter frosting over that while it's still warm, but we'll see.

I wanted to thank my hostess for putting on a wonderful event.
Her bread was delicious as well as the prosciutto were a great combination.
Everybody outdid themselves with their desserts, unfortunately after eating two desserts you kind off want not to eat anymore. So tomorrow I will start tasting the desserts and seeing which ones I like the best. The peanut butter cocacola cake was great as well as the rhubarb roulade. Roulade is my favorite dessert of all so I am biased. Since I did not any of the other desserts I will edit my review each day as I eat a new dessert. It was great fun and the port along with the meds made my headache go away.

What a great evening. Thank you Hellodali for hosting. Dinner was delicious as were all the desserts.
Off to bed to dream of panna cotta, roulades, tarts, pies, cheesecakes etc.
Looking forward to the next round.

I'm still up and just finished storing the wonderful leftovers so I thought I'd post photos. It was a joy to host June's dessert exchange and to welcome first timers Cookiemonster, jygach and justjoan. We had a truly delightful array of sweets - from justjoan's incredibly rich and flavorful yet still light chocolate cream pie to jygach's just sweet and tart enough blueberry lime tart to eli's incredibly rich and gooey chocolate, carmel, banana cake wonder.

In preparation for the overindulgence ahead, I prepared a very light dinner of a salad with baby lettuces, parsley, two mints and lemon vinaigrette. I was going to pan roast asparagus with brown butter and parmesan, but it was too hot during the day to turn on the oven so I improvised with an "asparagus bar," offering asparagus from the market with a choice of accompaniments - truffle oil, olive oil, lemon, parmigiano reggiano, pine nuts and La Quercia prosciutto. Some home baked pane siciliano and we were set. I didn't get pictures before we dug in, but here are some shots half way through dinner:

And here we have the fabulous dessert spread. I think everything tasted just as good as it looked. I had fun making a retro church bake sale recipe from Jane and Michael Stern - cola cake with broiled peanut butter frosting which is below left larger pan:

Clockwise from top left - Cookiemonster's caramel panna cotta, Pielady's chocolate mint cheesecake, justjoans chocolate cream pie, eli's chocolate salted caramel banana cake

Jygach's blueberry lime tart, Cinny'sMom's hidden berry cream chees torte, aschie30's rhubarb roulade, foodie1's mini cinni buns

Looking forward to next month and the delicious possibilities with summer fruits.

Thanks from me too! That dinner was really fantastic indeed, and I can't wait to sink my teeth into that bread tonight with dinner. Thanks for passing out bags of that on the way out. Tell Sam hello for me. :)

Another thanks to Hellodali. The light dinner was great, and the desserts fabulous. Even though there was some talk of dessert disasters prior to the event, there was no evidence of it and I think this exchange had the yummiest items yet. Here are some pics:

    jygach's blueberry-lime curd tart

    Pie Lady's Chocolate Mint Cheesecake

    Cookie Monster's Caramel Panna Cotta

    Image
eli's Chocolate Mousse, Salted Caramel Ganache and Banana torte

    Image
Cinny's Mom's Hidden Berry Creamcheese torte

[For the next exchange, I've decided that I've got to get pictures of the inside of some of these desserts. The inside of eli's and Cinny's Mom's respective tortes, for instance, were especially picturesque with their layers.]

[Foodie1 was nice enough to drop this stuff by, even though she couldn't stay.]

A very fun tiime as usual. Looking forward to the next exchange!
