G’Day mate! Do come and join us to celebrate Australia’s evolution as a foodie destination, and hear firsthand how there’s a lot more to chow down than that country’s fabled substance, Vegemite. None other than two of Australia’s finest foodie exports, chefs Naomi Levine and Jon-Antony will be on hand to dish out some luscious lore about where Australia was and is now ascending towards in its astounding food evolution. Their tales will be complimented by our own Culinary Historians member, the much-traveled Cynthia Clampitt, who will give her own insight and sign copies of her new book “Waltzing Australia.” Finally, we might all be tempted to sing a chorus of “Waltzing Matilda” when we taste the inspired down-under samples our chefs have prepared for us.

Please note Chef Jon-Antony of Table 52 will not be presenting. However, LTH member Cynthia Clampitt will extend her talk as an American in Australia. It should be an interesting discussion from a native and non-native's perspective.

WBEZ graciously included a fair number of images from my collection. However, none of the images they used are among the ones I actually included in my slide show, so if there seems to be a disconnect between the discussion and the images -- well, there is a disconnect. Of the images I mention when I speak, a fair number are already on my blog, so if you actually do care, for example, about what a crimson rosella looks like, you can still find it. It just won't be on the WBEZ site.

And even if you're not interested in my discussion on why Australia is a foodie paradise, Naomi Levine from Tipsy Cake is fun to listen to -- and she's on first.

Actually, it just occurred to me that the easiest place to see at least a few of the images from my talk (esp. the koala, wallaby, penguins, and crimson rosellas), at least if your on Facebook, would be in the album on my fan page: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id= ... 5358347597

I just figure that you have to see a crimson rosella to appreciate how beautiful it is.
