Anyone care to join me and the missis? If so, please post here to let me know that you're coming. I doubt we'll need to limit the size of our group but if there's huge interest, I reserve the right

Barring really crappy weather, I plan on being there at 12:30.

It's been a few months -- and far too long -- since my last cemita.

I've not been before. I'd like to fix this sad situation on the 14th. I'll be there.

Actually, I have never been to CP either (shame on me). Seems like a good time to go. If I can still get my vehicle out of the alley by wednesday, I will be there.

Great to hear that a few more -- including a few first-timers -- may join us.

    Here's the roster, so far:

    =R=
    Mrs. =R=
    guajolote
    stevez
    GAF
    Vital Information
    Jazzfood
    ChgoMike
    d4v3

That's 9 (with a few being tentative). Knowing the space, I think we should probably cap this at 12. That leaves (at least) 3 open spots.

    Anyone else care to join?

    Sure.

Ok, that's 12. I'm not opposed to more people joining but I think that even with 12, it may be hard for us all to sit together. If anyone else wants to join us, please post here and we'll see how it goes (someone could drop out, etc.).

Really sorry I missed this. By the time I got my car unstuck, I was running too late to make the 75 block trip and arrive at a reasonable time. I guess my intro to Cemitas will have to wait. I'll bet Ronnie got some good pics, though.

Cemitas Puebla is really a remarkable example of how creative and conscientious artisans can take humble dishes (and most tortas, tacos, and cemitas are pretty good elsewhere) and make them transcendent. Cemitas Puebla stands as a perfect response to our friends that say, "well, a cemita is just a cemita." Well, not in the right hands.

A great lunch. Thanks, to everyone who came out under fairly challenging conditions.

As many times as I've been to CP, I was happy that Jazzfood ordered for us because I'd never had the Chicharone Quesadilla and I really liked it . . .

    Image
    Chicharon Quesadilla
Chewy, crunchy, cheesey and spicy. Really great.

    Image
    Chips
I'd never been served chips before at CP . . .

    Image
    Special Chipotle Salsa
. . . this Chipotle/mayo salsa was served with the chips and made a great condiment for some of the other dishes, especially the Cemitas.

    Image
    Grilled Jalapenos
Still steaming, some were hot, some were not.

    Image
    Chipotle Mash
CP's famous Chipotle mash; served as a side.

    Image
    Chalupas with Chorizo
With salsa roja and salsa verde

    Image
    Cemita Atomica
The star of the show and as great as ever.

    Image
    Tacos Arabes
    Delicious marinated, grilled pork.

    Image
    Tacos Al Pastor
Another item I'd never had before at CP. A very respectable rendition with intense flavor and lots of nicely charred bits.

Thanks to the fine folks at Cemitas Puebla for taking such good care of us and for everyone who joined in for yesterday's lunch.
