    Better late than never!

2006: The Year in Food Photos
    [/url]

100 photos representing the intrepid exploring and picture-taking of no fewer than 35 LTHers during 2006, covering everything from Moto to Mister Shrimp and taking in delectable sights ranging from plump, succulent morsels of foie gras to the Fried Bologna Maidens of David Hammond's feverish dreams. Click the link above to savor and enjoy now!

Many thanks to Ramon, who helped me go through the thousands of posts and photos to find the best, and just as importantly provided the impetus to get this done; and to Eatchicago, who made it all work technically. And of course, to everyone who takes pictures of their food and shares it with the world at LTHForum. You too could be in the 2007 slideshow-- start snapping now!

If the 2006 edition wasn't enough for you, you can still see last year's (which by now has a few dead links in it, fyi) here.

Truly a thing of beauty -- thanks for all the hard work collecting. nice thematic organization.

It could use a soundtrack, tho :)

(one other tiny thing; since it has the same URL as last year, I can't bookmark it on del.icio.us so that people know there's a new one.. how about putting it at a permanent 2006 location now?)

    Mike, Michael and Ramon,

    Amazing, simply amazing!

One thing I didn't notice until the second time around is each picture's not only captioned but the caption is a hyperlink which takes one back to the original post.

    Terrific!

    Enjoy,

I have no doubt, Mike, that you included some of your own very best work, as well as that of G Wiv (and a few select others), but you certainly didn't extend me the same courtesy.

Going forward, I suggest that you (and/or whomever else puts this sort of thing together) solicit various LTH photographers for a select basket of their own photographs (say 5), and then make your selections from there.

    E.M.

    HI,

For whatever it matters, I was not asked to suggest photos and simply waited for the outcome. I do know Mike, Michael and Ramon spent quite a bit of time manually combing through posts to locate images.

I appreciate the effort and pass the url on to my non-foodie friends to introduce them to the breadth of content on the board.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

What a fine way to re-live a year of good eating!

Thanks to all those who took the time to work on this excellent review.

Great work, and many thanks to all the photographers, as well as those who did the work to go through everything and put it together.

    It is a good idea.

There were a lot of pictures and they did the best they could in the time they had (and did very well indeed!). But I am sure it is not the best possible slide show, or even one that includes the best picture(s) from each poster, because that would be damned near impossible.

But I would love to see your best pictures in one place, Erik. How about posting them here? And I am sure anyone else who wanted to do that would be welcome.

Celebrating the work of any one poster or group of posters always runs the risk of appearing to put down others, but that is not a reason to avoid continuing this wonderful new year's tradition. And I am sure there was no intention to slight anyone either. here. But I know everyone would be happy to see more great food pictures in one place. Visual feast, quite literally.

Maybe an LTH slide show and gallery? Seems to me that should be pretty doable, one way or another. Please feel free to post your pix.
