The 25th annual Taste of Melrose Park happens this weekend, Sept. 1-3. Back in the day it was commonly known as the "Everything's a Dollar" fest, but it's now "Everything's Two Dollars (or Less)." It's a great event for ease of eating (you don't have to buy tickets-they take cash), people watching, and of course, a whole lot of darn good food options. Don't miss the sfingi homemade by the local nuns. There's plenty of live music, too. For more info, see:

Absolutely no doubt about the Sfingi, I wouldn't miss it. The nuns also sell them in egg boxes to go. The Arancini was also good, and I would selfishly say the fried bologna is good too.

Allison, thanks for the general heads-up.

The Wife and I just realized yesterday that, with the holiday coming up, it must be time for Taste of Melrose...and, of course, the Festa of SS. Maria Lauretana (though I have not seen any signs posted for that event this year...but it must be happening, I'd think).
