It's been a while since the Evanston group has gotten together, so I thought I'd suggest a lunch at Deta's - on Ridge just south of Howard - for some good Montenegran food. Full disclosure _ I haven't been there, I only know that it gets good reviews from others.

Since the tradition for the group has been for Thursdays, I'll propose 12:30 8/3/2004.

If we get enough interest, I'll call or stop in to set things up (since the last LTH event I organized went so well ........)

    Stop torturing yourself! Please!

I won't be there in the area on the 3rd. If there is any inclination to change it to the following week, then I can be there with bells on! Otherwise I look forward to the report.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

Okay, if no one objects, I'll move it to 8/10/2006.

if eating at Deta's (whose bread I just love) I wold urge folks to be aware that whatever the city may want it is not a nonsmoking place. In fact, I've almost never seen anyone inside who is not smoking (this would include Deta herself)

I have a friend who is nuts about Deta's.

I'd love to come -- it's close enough to my neighborhood, but not during weekdays.

Unfortunately, Deta is on vacation until 8/19, so the lunch will be moved to the relatively new Addis Abeba [Ethiopean], on Chicago Ave. 1/2 block north of Dempster. Apparently, this is essentially the same Addis Abeba that used to be on Clark near Wrigley Field, but moved into the former New Japan space (the decor is virtually unchanged). Look for the yellow awning.

    See you there.

Great! I've wanted to go there since John Beadle mentioned it over the weekend.

I will attend; it's been eons since I've had Ethiopian food.
Where there’s smoke, there may be salmon.

It wasn't a huge group (5 people) but I think everyone agreed the food was pretty good - even Brent, who was forced to use utensils rather than injera. If we get lucky, maybe Charlotte will post a photo.

I thoroughly enjoyed lunch. Especially the chicken wot... smokey and slightly sweet. The only downside was the construction outside which made parking a nightmare... =)

    Hi,

I enjoyed lunch so much, I almost returned with my family this evening. While we had other things to do, we will be there soon!

    Great choice and great company!

Can I give Gus a hard time for not joining us, since he's basically right around the corner?

BTW, credit where credit is due, I think it was Robert's suggestion to move it to Addis Abeba when we found out Deta was on vacation.
