    LTHF,

As I posted earlier in Non Food Chat, Michael Dorian's tremendous documentary, featuring (among others) yours truly, will be having its Chicago premiere(s) at the upcoming Chicago Indiefest next week.

Michael will be present at all screenings (he is driving in from NYC later this week) but I figured that the Sunday noon screening would be the easiest for everyone to attend if this is to be a mini-LTH event. I will be flying into Chicago the night before and will be there for the Sunday showing of the film, which will have a quick, formal Q&A with the director afterwards, followed by a very informal, post-film brunch/drinks at a location not yet decided. Anyone with an interest in pizza, documentary film, or the Hungryrabbi should try to make it to this screening. I have been talking to Michael, and he will let me know his schedule for his time in Chicago (I presume he's going to be networking at least some of the time) and where he would like to have the post-film get together. I was thinking Spacca Napoli, but that's a bit far from the Village Theater. Suggestions are welcome - - please try to make it to this screening, as it promises to be a great time. Hope to see many of you there.

    Reb,

I'll be out of town or wild pepperoni could not keep me away.

It sounds like you're aiming a "fat, dumb, and happy" challenge directly at me. Well, two out of three, any way.

But if the Rebbe's in town, I won't miss the chance to bask in his aura and polish my cinéaste manque credentials while digging on the sturm und drang of pizza, er, uh, Pizza.

    See you Sunday, guaglio'.

    Hey Reb,

It's great that you'll be back in Chicago, and that the Pizza! movie will be shown. Do you have any inside information about how much the tickets are to the screening, and how one can go about getting them? The Indiefest web page is singularly uninformative.

Also... could you/we/someone pick out a place for the post-movie gathering? Antonius and I are not sure if we can attend the screening (as much as we would enjoy seeing you on the BIG screen this time!) and might have to aim for the later get-together.

    Hey pizza fans,

Just got off the Rebbe-line with Mr. Dorian (who is currently 100 miles from Chicago, wending his way through the wilds of Northern Indiana), and he says that Piece, a mere mile and a half or so down North Ave from the Village Theater, would be the ideal post-film spot for pizza, wine, and what have you. So, to those who are coming to the screening, follow the crew. For those who are coming to the post-film pizza/conversation soiree, we will be meeting at Piece at around 2:30. And for those about to rock, we salute you.

    LTHF,

Ok, everyone, this is the final Hungryrabbi communique before he works his shift at the bagel shop and then boards a flight to Chicago, which will put him at O'Hare field some time around 9pm, CDT.

He will be at the Skylark tonight, briefly, to decompress, but will turn in realtively early for a Saturday night (ie, before 4am) to rest up for Sunday's noon screening. He will also continue to refer to himself in the third person (I am just trying to be the best Hungryrabbi that Hungryrabbi can be in all Hungryrabbi-ism and Hungryrabbitude... in fact, I need to call that *^&%#$^&^... hold on.... damn, got the machine! Hungryrabbi, pick up! Hungryrabbi, pick up the phone... it's me! You!....)

    Ahem AHEM.......

Whoa. Amata, tix are 10 bucks, available at the Village Box office. Whoever designed the Indiefest website should work for the Defense Department's news bureau in Iraq - about the same level of clarity and candor is on offer. For all who are coming tomorrow, try to arrive around half an hour early, what with parking, meeting up, hugs, kisses, epithets, what have you, plus the general confusion of a semi-professional film festival. Q&A to follow the film, and then it's off to Piece (North Ave, one block east of Damen, for those who somehow didn't know) for the LTH exclusive meet, eat, and greet with director Michael Dorian. Hope to see many of you there.

    Pizzescamente,

    The Reb Baron

Thanks for the info, Reb. It looks like the A/A/L crew will be heading directly to Piece tomorrow afternoon, and also probably bringing another LTH lurker/occasional poster along. We'll be ready to de-construct the Piece pizza style and evaluate the staff there on their readiness for the pizza team competitions...

Have fun at Skylark, and see you tomorrow!

The post-movie get together has been relocated to Spacca Napoli.

For those of you who haven’t already viewed Pizza: The Movie, you should make the effort to see it. This documentary film combines duel elements that so often lack in documentary films: both humor and content. Michael Dorian does a wonderful balancing act between the two in this movie. It will be in town just until tomorrow.
For a good laugh and visually eating some of the best pizza in the U.S, go see it.
