Post #1 - March 22nd, 2006, 3:47 amMy sister, Annie Chu, and I were so pleased to meet so many LTHers back last November that we'd like to do it again. Please join us next Monday, March 27th, from 6:30PM to 9:30PM at Hopleaf Bar.
As many of you already know, Hopleaf features "fine food", "better beer, wines, and spirits" as well as "Belgian specialties" such as moules frites - mussels and fries - served with aioli and Red Hen Bread for sopping on the side.
RSVP with a post or PM by Friday if possible so I can give Michael, Hopleaf's owner, an estimate of how many of us to expect. There will be a cash bar and menu. Please feel free to stop by for just a drink, a bite, or a full-blown meal.

We will definitely be ordering food and beer. Without a doubt, we will order mussles and frites. Beyond that, I can't say.

Amata and I will be having dinner too. The likely -- but not definite -- choice is mussels, but I'm waiting to see if the Cardinal might grant special dispensation from Lenten fasting for Monday. It could affect a last minute decision.

I have seen so many dispensations granted that I have come to conclusion there is a dispensation to cover nearly any whim. While I do my best to keep to the straight and narrow, I will divine myself a dispensation when necessary (or desired!).

Mussels for two, warm spinach salad and, possibly, rabbit. Though I'm not fully discounting the possibility of beer battered smelts.

The last time I was at Hopleaf, the only rabbit on the menu was braised rabbit legs, which sounded nice, if not labor intensive. It also raised the question in my mind: How many rabbit legs does it take to make a meal?
I truly miss Hopleaf's rabbit with carmelized brussel sprouts, spaetzle, and a creamy herb gravy. It hasn't been on the menu in a couple years, but if it showed up again, I'd order it in a hot second.

You're right there but I didn't want to take any chances so I decided to take the 'proactive' approach, as they say these days: after a little surfing on the internet, I found a site where I could buy a book of 'indulgence coupons', which can be redeemed to expiate sins, circumnavigate fast days, annul marriages gone wrong and save fallen relatives.

Thanks, M'th'su; I think I need to take you up on that. I've gotten some disturbing p.m.s telling me that the link I give above just takes people to some weird and apparently devilish sort of a site, whereas I just get a price-list and ordering instructions from the CU's giftshop. Something strange going on.
Do members of your church have to speak whatever language it is your name -- M'th'su -- is in? It looks too hard to pronounce for me!
