I know many of you have enjoyed the 2005 LTHForum Food Porn Calendar which expired yesterday, and though we don't have a calendar this year, I was inspired by all the great food photography posted here (why yes, some of it by me, now that you ask) to create something else as a little present for the start of 2006:

Gallery LTHForum presents
2005: The Year in Food Photos

It's a slideshow of about 75 or so photos from the site which capture the breadth and depth and, well, insatiability of our food obsession. It will play through at a reasonably peppy pace, or you can hit pause and then go through picture by picture. The captions link back to the original post from which each photo is taken.

Special thanks to Eatchicago for programming it, and of course to all the photographers-- and hopefully there will be even more contenders next year, so I won't use so many of mine and GWiv's pics. Grab that digital camera and start snapping!

Happy New Year!

Great fun! I'm honored to have one of mine included. A terrific selection, and like selecting the freshman class at Harvard, you could have probably chosen another group of 75 that would have been just as good.

Either a lot of work went into the sequencing, or there's just beautiful juxtapositions: merguez followed by hot links, two markets in a row, etc. etc. Wonderful slide show. Thanks.

Now I'm hungry again.
Thank goodness for leftovers.

Mike,

What a wonderful year in review, brings back many fond, and delicious, memories. Thank you for all your hard work in making LTHForum a richer, more enjoyable and interesting place.

Michael, great work on the programming, your behind the scenes efforts, not to mention interesting posts and pictures, contribute greatly to LTH.

I suggest we buy the Two M's a drink at the next LTH outing.

Enjoy,
Gary

I can't really take credit for the "programming", since we used freely available javascript that was already written. I just wired up Mike's page. A more proper term for my involvement would be "integration". Mike did the lion's share of the work.

Either way, I'll take that drink. :)

Excellent work, Mike.

Then Mike gets the "lion's" share of the drink. :)

Lovely. Seems like an appropriate goal for 2006 would be to partake of each of those dishes.

Bravo, Mike, I am inspired.

Mike, that was really well done. The only problem is it's really made me homesick!

Also, please note this was just mentioned in Chicago Magazine's e-newsletter, Dish. Welcome to all who choose to visit us for the first time! Nicely done, again, Mike and Michael, even if you are just an enabler, EC  .

I think Dish actually referred to the Top 10 year in review thread that Mike started.

Though it was one of the best photo-caption combos of the year.

I realize the holidays are long-gone, but I had been an especially good boy last year, and was wondering - do we get a calendar or slideshow of what was eaten in 2006 ?

That 2005 slideshow is still amazing.

Thanks
