Post #2 - July 15th, 2009, 8:45 amThis has never been a great festival food-wise. I stopped going a couple of years ago, but I don't remember ever having anything terribly impressive.
On the other hand, Halsted Tastes Better (which was this past Monday night) is one of the hidden gems of the summer. Probably my favorite festival for food after the Green City Market BBQ.

I've always liked Halsted Tastes Better too, but unfortunately I had to miss it this year. Any particularly noteworthy items this year?

Bacon-studded grits with Cajun shrimp from the Hearty Boys. They also did a watermelon gazpacho that was fantastic. Also, ham and cheese strudel from Minibar. As always, an insane amount of food for $25.

The grits sound particularly good, and I enjoyed my one brunch at Hearty Boys quite a bit . . . oh well, next year.
