    HS,

Drove by today and, according to the sign on the window, Sticky Rice IS reopening this evening.

Great idea having a dinner there, put me down for a tentative G Wiv +1.

    Enjoy,

Tentative +1 for me - I may have a birthday party that night, I'll know tomorrow. It is safe to say that the Picky Eater will NOT be joining me for this one unless he can order chicken. :P

What a great response! I'm looking forward to celebrating the re-opening with all of you. I'll give Sticky Rice a call late tomorrow, so RSVPs before, say, 5pm tomorrow would be super. I'll bring beer to share.

Gotcha. They must have been really busy last night because I didn't get a call back about their capacity. I had inquired about a group of 15-20. I'll follow up today.

Fantastic that so many people want to check out the new-and-improved Sticky Rice so soon!

My suggestion would be to limit this to something substantially smaller than 20 people, even if the restaurant somehow says they can handle that many (which I doubt). I once went to Sticky Rice with a group of 12, and the kitchen mightily struggled to keep up. They always seem to be doing a brisk takeout/ delivery business in addition to what was almost always a full dining room in the months preceding closure. And the kitchen is tiny, with rarely more than 1 cook working it.

If we get lots of confirmed people who want to attend, I'll gladly drop out to help keep the group smaller. I eat Sticky Rice's food all the time, so I'd rather make this as enjoyable an experience as possible for other people. If it were me, I'd cap it at 8-10 people, which is already pushing it, imo. If the group does end up much larger, I will hope for the best, and also encourage folks not to view any kitchen missteps as representative of the normal Sticky Rice experience.

You're right, Kenny. I had no idea what interest would be like, though I'm very happy for the enthusiastic response. I also have a hard time turning people away. I'll cap the list now, and we'll see how it goes.

I hope you didn't feel like you had to bow out. I figured there would be some last-minute cancellations anyway. I wish there was room for everyone!

I was getting nervous that Sticky Rice would fill up, so I just called and confirmed a group of 11 for tomorrow at 6:30pm. It sounded like they'd say OK to any number I gave them, so I kept it at 11, which is the current list including the tentatives and without the _suburbans. If there are any cancellations, we can either go with a smaller group or fill the spots if there any folks especially eager to join us.

Not at all. It was going to be a tough fit for us anyway. I have a 3:30 meeting tomorrow up north (ok, it's for cocktails ) and I'm just not sure I can make it down there in time, especially with the likely brutal Friday afternoon traffic.
