I can't resist the siren song of Duck Egg Foo Yung at Sun Wah. EFY is something I would never think to order there, but anything containing duck...well that's another story. Join me there Monday 6/8/09 at noon. Besides the duck EFY, I'm sure many other dishes will be ordered. The more, the merrier. Please sign up here if you plan to go.

    Edited to change the date.

EFY still scares the hell out of me despite growing up on Jewish Chinese food. Hopefully this can cure my irrational (or is it?) fear.

    See you there!

P.S. Think it is too late or order a Beijing Duck and make it an "all duck outing"? Well save for maybe an order of garlic fried ribs and soft shelled crabbies?

    Steve,

Have a previous lunch engagement I am unable to shift either day or venue. Wish I could add to the ordering power, some of the other off menu dishes chezbrad mentioned in his post sound tasty.

    Enjoy,

Due to a lack of attendance, this event is being recheduled to next Monday. 6/8. I hope a few more folks can join us at Sun Wah!

I was just looking at the clock and thinking of you with envy, Steve, picturing you happily munching away on some Sun Wah ducky goodness--while I sit, chained to my computer for yet another long day.... :(

So, I'm sorry today didn't work out for you, but I will be very happy to join you next Monday. I'll be the one celebrating having this current project in my rear-view mirror! :D

There have been many wonderful LTH dinners at Sun Wah. Feel free to organize one. And newcomers are always welcome.

Is there still room for one more? The Jersey Girl loves EFY and, like me, has never had the duck version.

If there is still a seat available, she will join me. Thanx.

OK. That puts us at 12 people. That will be a bit of a squeeze, but we'll manage. If anyone else wants to sign up, I'll start a waitlist. If we get 4 - 5 more people, we'll split into two tables.

I'll hop on the wait list. I've actually never had EFY, and Sun Wah certainly seems like the place to try it for the first time. Of course, my arteries will still be recovering from the Anniversary Party...

I'm very surprised at how many people want to go to lunch at Sun Wah on a Monday. With the 4 people who have asked to be on the wait list, our total has grown to 16, which is enough for two tables. That means that everyone who was on the wait list can now attend. We'll just split up into two groups. We also have room for a few more people to attend.

Obviously we'll be ordering more stuff than just duck egg foo yung. We can decide what else we want on Monday, but if there are any special requests that need to be ordered in advance, let me know. I'll be talking to Kelly and Laura over the weekend and I can give them a heads up.

Judy, not to worry; usually it's obvious (you'll know what I mean when you get there) - but fortunately if you say "LTH" to the folks at the door, at Sun Wah they will know what you mean and will direct you.

Ordering requests at Sun Wah? Hmm... I request the duck with a side of duck served over duck. Also, given the size of the crowd, I think we should order an additional side of duck.

Are you saying that you want the Peking Duck? We could order one/table, but that's a lot of food and may preclude ordering other things (besides the duck EFY).

I think he was just making a joke, but yeah, I agree if we're there for something else, NOT doing the Peking duck as it's a production unto itself. It's not like there's a shortage of savory choices there.

If there's desire for Peking duck, then it might be time for another Peking duck event.

I wasn't entirely making a joke, actually. Perhaps I've forgotten either how large of a portion Peking Duck actually is, or how much I eat when I order the dish. Or both.

I'm sure whatever is chosen will be fine. I'm easy.
