    LTH 5th Anniversary Party – June 7th, 1:00-5:00 pm, Weegee’s Lounge

A group of LTHers got together and talked about how much LTHForum has changed the way we think and talk about food. Thanks to LTH, over the last five years:

We now know all about the membrane on ribs.
We’ve learned to cook horse, Swedish-style.
We’ve avoided many bad meals because an LTHer “took one for the team.”
We cringe at the mention of meat jello.
We helped make raccoon what’s for dinner.
We know what Malort, balut and durian are.

Most of all, we’ve had many great meals and met many great new people because of LTH.

In appreciation, we decided to “unofficially” put together a gathering honoring what the founders, moderators and members have meant to us all. Please join us to celebrate at Weegee's on June 7 at 1:00 pm. The menu will include an array of signature dishes from GNRs that we’ve loved and collectively discovered over the past five years. We will reveal the menu as it becomes finalized.

    All LTHers welcome!

    Signed,
The “Unofficial” LTH 5th Year Anniversary Party Planning Committee

    Event information:

Tickets are $30 per person. The ticket price will cover the food expense. There will be a cash bar available for drinks.

Please purchase tickets at Brown Paper Tickets. There is a $1.74 fee charged by BPT per ticket. Space is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis only with the purchase of a ticket on BPT. We are capping the event at 55 people.

After you have purchased your ticket, please post a confirmation on this thread that you purchased your ticket so that we have an accurate head count.

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we can use Weegee’s spacious back patio.

Weegee's is cool, but they don't serve food and don't offer very much of interest for us non-drinkers. Hopefully arrangements for outside vittles have been made.

stevez - Be patient . . . of course there will be food! It's an LTH event! And believe me, Weegee's holds interest for drinkers and non-drinkers alike.

My initial reaction was similar - not that I'm a non-drinker, but I don't go out just to drink if there's no food involved, especially if I'm going to have a long drive home.

(On the bright side, I see from my master map that it is halfway between Fonda del Mar and Taqueria Puebla.)

Can someone who's been to Weegee's report on whether or not the cat pee smell mentioned in some Yelp posts really exists there? I am a little concerned about setting way back some good baby steps of progress I've made recently in overcoming my aversion to sauvignon blanc.

I don't read Yelp; however, I have been to Weegee's and I can tell you that I did not detect any cat pee smell.:?:

The invitation is open to all, but my guess is that RiverWester will not be attending.

Awesome food, atmosphere, and people will abound, we promise!

Neither do I (read Yelp, that is), but I hadn't heard of Weegee's before, so I searched for it in the LTH forums and I googled it.

I did see the earlier reply that there would be food; I think both of us were just commenting that without that being said up front, it did just look like meeting up at a bar for drinks.

    HI,

I'm largely a non-drinker, too. Two years ago, I would have been more repulsed because visiting a bar also meant walking into a smoking environment. We're lucky, because we can always sneak out for an oatmeal shake from The Brown Sack down the street. :D

My choice wouldn't be oatmeal, but that doesn't matter because Brown Sack is closed on Sunday.
