Is anyone hanging out after the party? At Weegee's? Elsewhere?

Hi, Molly. Not to my knowledge, but there were still 15-20 folks there when we left 45 mins ago.

Thanks again to the organizers for a wonderful event. A really great time.

I just got back from the party and I want to extend kudos to the organizing committee for doing a great job on putting the party together. Weegee's was set up perfectly for the party and the food was both extraordinary and plentiful. It was a great "tour" through the GNRs. The Delightful Pastry cake (The only non-GNR food served, IIRC) was beautiful and delicious. Cookie Monster did an excellent job with the cake! Thank you to everyone who had anything to do with planning today's event. It couldn't have been any nicer!

Great event, and I especially thank you for the appreciation shown to the founding moderators and the tech gurus, including those who have since moved on (Seth, Vital Info and I representing that group).

My kids, on the other hand, thank you (especially Cookie Monster) for cake.

It was my lucky day. I was able to catch the very tail end of the party at Weegee's, and, even at that point, it was very clear what an awesome celebration it was.

I've seen a few LTH picnics and holiday parties now, but it still amazes me the energy and time and thought that mere mortals pour into the planning and execution of these major events. Having been privvy to some of the behind-the-scenes for the 5th anniversary--Wendy, Maureen, Dimitra, Kenny, Michele, Matt, Joe and others, you made it look so very easy even though it was not. From me and _stomach, bravo!

Thank you, Mike G, for this sentiment. I'm realizing more and more that the remarkable relationships and community I've found through this site are lasting.

With much love and gratitude, happy birthday, LTH.

Thanks to all who helped put the 5th anniversary event together today. It was my first LTH event and my stomach will never forget it. I managed to try everything, and it was all fantastic.

Thanks also to everyone for being so friendly and making the experience so enjoyable.

Sorry I didn't get to meet you, jrapacz. Our stomachs should meet.

I also forgot to thank, Ursiform--perfect example of an otherwise-stranger. Your pep talk and hug helped a lot!

What a terrific set of characters we had at today's party! I loved meeting the newer people and hanging out with the old guard. The crowd was easily the highlight of the party, but I was also thrilled to taste food from several GNR's that I'd never tried. Rather embarrassingly, I had never tried Cemitas Puebla, and wow was that Atomica a thing of beauty!

Agree on friends new and old. I'm glad we served the Atomicas hot - Tony will be proud.

Highlights for me were Dobra's insane cake (artistry and flavor, somehow light and delicate and featuring berries that have no business being that pretty or intense this time of year) and the burek, which was new to nearly all of us on the planning committee. I'd had burek at Djerdan in NYC, and this was a different animal, and like the very best food from the very best GNRs, tasted like it just came out of a family oven in a warm, humble corner of the world. Props to Lao Sze Chuan to giving us about 21 orders worth of chicken crack when we ordered 10 - hope everyone is enjoying the leftovers.

Thank you to all the organizers for a delightful afternoon of delicious food. As with all well-planned events the party flowed smoothly ,with participants totally unaware of the hours and hours of behind-the-scenes work. Sharon and Michelle - we missed you!

To LTH moderators (past and present) - thank you for creating a forum that allows like-minded food lovers to wine, dine and learn from each other. Here's to many more years!

I belatedly add my thanks as well. Terrific party, terrific company, terrific food. As I observed to a few folks at the time, it should be illegal to have that much superb food in one place at one time.

I had an absolutely great time and, like Kennyz, had the chance to grab some delights from GNRs that I've somehow never managed to make it to. I had to leave unexpectedly in the middle of the party and so was prevented from having even more great things but I'm already counting the days until the 10th anniversary.

A most sincere and heartfelt thanks to those involved in conceiving, planning, and executing yesterday's event. We are all in your debt.

I need to thank whoever sent Hellodali to my house with leftovers (recognizing happily that my duty as the LTH leftover-receptacle supersedes soccer trophy day) - we were was eating warmed-over storebought pizza and suddenly instead I got to assuage my chicken bhoti craving, while Sparky chowed down on the ribs and cake! It sure must have been some party! Thanks and kudos to everybody who worked so hard!

    LTH,

Fantastic 5th Anniversary Party, thanks to the organizers, members, moderators and tech geeks past and present, participating GNRs and Weegee's. One of the best afternoons I have had in quite some time.

I could get squishy and maudlin at this point, but suffice to say 5-years in and LTHForum is vibrant and interesting, truly amazing.

Add our thanks to the list - what an excellent event! It was great chatting with the real people behind the screen names, enjoying some top-notch cocktails, and the food - oh man, what a spread. We try to use the GNR list for our dining picks whenever possible, but somehow every single dish was new to us - needless to say, my wife is now addicted to chicken crack, and I'm getting the shakes because I forgot to bring a baggie of Issan sausage leftovers to work with me.

The planning committee really outdid themselves. This was our first LTH event, and the great people & great food have us hooked - we'll see you all at the picnic (if not sooner :))

Oh also, Dobra, that cake was magic!

Splendid day in splendid company. Thanks to the planners, who did so much work and planned this so well. (I loved the staggered food delivery -- brilliant idea.) And thanks to all those who started LTH and continue to keep it functioning. What a wonderful, warm, intelligent, interesting community it is.

Fabulous day -- and the weather cooperated so nicely.

The food was great, the people were better. Excellent gathering.

I want to add my thanks to the organizers. That was a great way to spend an afternoon. Great food, great drinks, great company. I got to try several GNRs I hadn't before and put faces with a few more names.

Add my kudos for the organizers. As at any LTH event, food and drink were outstanding. It was great to meet a number of posters who confided “this is my first LTH event,” including porkphat and Khaopaat. With new people coming in all the time LTH just continues to get stronger. Bravo!

I have to add my thanks to the amazing organizers of this event, it was done with such care and love. The food, company, cocktails and that amazing cake! It was nice to put names with faces and see people I already knew all with good food to accompany it. The staggered delivery was brilliant, allowing time to savour what we ate and anticipate the next course, and as Cinny's Mom pointed out to me everyone got right back in line when the next delivery arrived. You should all be very proud of what you accomplished. :D

The organizers did a fantastic job. The food was great. People were fab.

But the conversation, as always, was another highlight. Riffing with LTH'ers on food and other subjects has always been a highlight of the get-togethers I've attended.

Here's a snapshot of topics that came up:

bacon lingerie, England vs. France in the world cup of apple cider, extra-sensory pierogi perception (ESPP), the organ black market, sour cream's dominance over Eastern Europe, moderator stretch marks, hoarding nonpareils, stupid pheasants, hidden EL stops, white slavery, the unfortunate American one-language mind, image-stabilization, dueling half pigs, the burka's effect on the world of style and the sazerac.

Thanks one and all for being your eclectic, interesting selves - not just for folks who showed up yesterday but everyone who makes this such a vibrant place.

Thanks party planners and happy birthday LTH!

I can’t believe you didn’t mention our discussion of the relative rip-off-ability/desirability of dramatizing Tot-Mom’s as opposed to Octo-Mom’s story. I still think there’s something there. Maybe it’s just me.

This was a spectacular event, beautiful in conception and execution.

A truly enjoyable event. Even though I was not at 100%, there was no way I was going to let that interfere with LTH socializing -- one of my very favorite activities. :D Of course, the food was terrific, too.

Many thanks to all who helped to make it happen. It was a wonderfully warm gift to all of us.
