On Monday, May 4, Lawry’s The Prime Rib, 100 E. Ontario St., is celebrating 35 magnificent years along Chicago's Magnificent Mile.

During dinner that evening guests will enjoy the Lawry’s 35th Anniversary Special, a three-course prix fixe dinner by Executive Chef Victor Newgren, for only $35 plus tax and gratuity. The menu is as follows:

Lawry’s Original Spinning Bowl Salad; Warm Sour Dough Bread & Sweet Cream Butter; Special 8oz. Cut Roasted Prime Ribs of Beef; Whipped Cream Horseradish; Yorkshire Pudding; Mashed Potatoes and Gravy; for dessert, Strawberry English Trifle or C.C. Brown’s Ice Cream Sundae Sampler; Fresh Brewed Coffee or Hot Tea. Fish or vegetarian entrée options are available. A select list of fine wines will be offered at $35 a bottle.

Lawry’s The Prime Rib opened in Chicago’s historic McCormick Mansion in 1974. Founded by Lawrence Frank and Walter Van de Kamp, the restaurant was first inspired by the Frank family’s traditional Sunday dinners. Lawry’s continues to be operated by the third generation of Frank and Van de Kamp families, and it has indeed withstood the test of time. Throughout the years the basic elements of Lawry’s have remained unchanged: pride in a job well done, delicious food, exceptional service and good value. It was the first restaurant to be opened with a single entrée, Roasted Prime Ribs of Beef, which to this day is its signature entrée, along with mashed potatoes, creamed corn, creamed spinach, whipped cream horseradish and Yorkshire pudding.

To make reservations or for more information call Lawry’s The Prime Rib at (312) 787-5000 or visit www.lawrysonline.com.

As much as I like Lawry's for what it is (and had a better than expected meal there last I visited) an 8oz Prime Rib w/multiple starches @ $35. doesn't appear to be much of a deal to me.

Agreed, though the regular menu price for this identical meal is $37, and it does not include dessert or coffee. So, while not too substantial, it is a discount.

Unfortunately, I suffer from actually knowing what the ingrds cost which tends to make me a rough customer anywhere I eat. Add a $1-1.25 for dessert and literally pennies for the coffee. Suggest sharpening their pencil and coming back to the table, or upping the portion to 12 oz min to @ least give the illusion of value.

or perhaps roll back the price to the 1972 levels to really celebrate, & thank customers for the past 35 years of business. :D

Based on that standard, you are probably not going to find a lot of deals.

I don't look for deals. I look for value (as I believe most do).

Aren't those just their standard menu items, making the 35th anniversary special, "$2 off, plus dessert and coffee"?

OP has 1 post, which is basically an advertisement. I'd call that spam.
