Hello all. I just wanted to drop a line about a few things that are on the radar in May. Our informal garden group - Green Roof Growers - is putting on a sub-irrigated planter (SIP) workshop on May 20th and 30th. Cost is $50 details here: http://greenroofgrowers.blogspot.com/2009/04/sub-irrigated-planter-sip-workshops-in.html.

Also, Erik Knutzen will lead an informal presentation on Urban Homesteading in Los Angeles – focusing on his and his wife’s homegrown systems of adventurous experimentation of chickens, growing, greywater, brewing and more - some successful, some not so much!

Copies of his book The Urban Homestead will be for sale. Erik Knutzen, along with his wife Kelly Coyne is the co-author of The Urban Homestead, a hands-on guide that covers everything from growing food, raising chickens to navigating city streets on a bicycle. Erik writes about urban sustainability issues for magazines and blogs at http://www.homegrownevolution.com
