Here’s a good working definition of irony: On the same day that LTHForum praised The Depot American Diner (5849 W. Roosevelt Rd., 773-261-8422) for "comfort food like you wish your grandmother made," in affirming its Great Neighborhood Restaurant status, comes word that the West Sider, operated by former Signature Room chef Robert Nava and his wife, Anna, is perilously close to going under.

The Ramons will be lunching here next Saturday. I don't know what time. Perhaps we could agree on such. Perhaps enough of us wish what I wish and we could have multiple times to gather, from breakfast to lunch to dinner. Mobbe the place. Keep a keeper.

    Let's go eat!

    Hi,

I brought seven people for lunch on Saturday. It was a continuous flow of business the entire time we were there. I had hoped to use the backroom, however a birthday party was in progress there. We split into two tables, though one table was about ten minutes ahead of the other.

Saturday seems to be a peak day. You may want to encourage people on a day when business is leaner for them. Of course, get there when you can, because it all helps.

Did anyone know the outcome of the Klas fundraiser? I wanted to ask, but they were so busy it never seemed like the right time.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

Saturday April 18 is the date of the Lawrence-Kedzie-a-Thon. Of course with so many LTH'ers this might not matter, but if Saturday is peak time, perhaps another time would work better.
Toast, as every breakfaster knows, isn't really about the quality of the bread or how it's sliced or even the toaster. For man cannot live by toast alone. It's all about the butter. -- Adam Gopnik

Saturday is the day that I can go. I am hoping someone schedules something more reasonable.

    Ramon-

I hope to breakfast at the Depot on Saturday pending ability to eat after what could be an unpleasant dentist's appointment. Hoping to be there by 10 AM. Although I'll probably miss you and your family, I'm happy to try to support the cause!

    Ramon and friends -

I plan to drop by to say hello at [1 PM]*, though I most likely can't stay for lunch (on my way to a family gathering). I wish you very happy eats!

    * [what I gather from word on the street? please correct / update and I can drop by in another window if you're planning on being there earlier or later, don't mean to impose a particular sitting]
