Sorry BrendanR. The last of the giardiniera was consumed at the LTH Picnic.

    Hi All,

Please note, as of this morning at least, the Mayfair/Marie's neighboorhood was still dealing with some flooding-related traffic issues. In particular, the Pulaski/Lawrence intersection was a bit backed up and traffic cops were assisting. Hopefully, it will be cleared up by this evening, but if possible you may want to give yourselves a few extra minutes to get to the restaurant.

    See you all tonight! -Lynn

Thanks LynnB for organizing a great evening at Marie's. Despite some uncharacteristically not so great service (our waitress was scarce and the pizzas weren't piping hot by the time they arrived at our table), it was still nice to share a meal at Marie's with a fun group of LTHers.

Thanks, Steve. And thanks to all who came! I agree with Steve that our service was not up to par last night. We have had that particular server when dining as a couple on numerous occasions and she's never been less than efficient before. Not sure what the problem was last night.... (Of course, on the night I really wanted the place to shine. )
Despite the service issues, we had a very enjoyable evening. It's always great to put faces to screen names and get to know fellow LTH-er's a bit better.
I do still intend to nominate Marie's for a GNR and should have that post up within a day or two. For anyone willing to check it out, do please dine-in. To-go and delivery just aren't the same.
Ronnie or Gary - will you post the name of the company that supplied those Habanero chips? Maybe they do mail order? I think my father-in-law would really enjoy some.

    Lynn,

I want to add my thanks, as well. Last night was very enjoyable, even if it wasn't Marie's best night. Steve was right on the money about the service and the temperature of the pies. Still, the pizzas were quite tasty and the company was, as always, outstanding.

As for the Mama Zuma's Revenge - Habanero Potato Chips, they were sent to my office by a work associate. He ordered them from Route 11 Chips in Mount Jackson, VA.

Actually, the remnants of Steve's giardiniera reside in my refrigerator at the moment. (I'm only confessing because MHays threatened to rat me out  ) I was thinking of using this as a bargaining chip to bribe my way into last night's Marie's Pizza dinner after it became fully subscribed, but the truth is, I've been happily munching on the giardiniera for the past week and a half.... and I don't think the last 1/2 cup would have gone very far divided by 12....

Steve, are you going to post the recipe for your delicious version of this? I especially liked the spice level and the way it remained so crispy.

Thanks for the compliment. To me, the giardiniera is still a work in progress. That was my first try at it. I've still got some expeimentation to do before there will be an official "recipe", although the nature of the stuff makes it unlikely that I'll ever make it the same way twice.

At the Food Exchange event last night, we ordered a Modified LynnB (with green olives instead of black):

I love salt, but even I would admit that this was one sodium-heavy slab of pizza. It didn't work. Still, we ate most all of it. I think the LynnB Original is probably the better way to go.

The folks at Marie's were exceptionally welcoming.
