Most of my activity along 47th St. is in the Halsted to Western stretch. During my senior year in high school (Tilden) I lived at 47th and Wood, in the St. Michael the Archangel Parish. The neighborhood's gone mostly Mexican, but I still have friends in the neighborhood and get there a couple of times each month. I frequently stop at Taqueria Atotonilco - near the corner of Paulina. The menu is taqueria typical - tacos, tortas, liquados, carne platters, aguas frescas, menudo on the weekend. I go for three or four tacos de pollo, or a torta, some rajas de chile jalapeño w/sliced carrots and an agua fresca. I like the place because it's busy, it's pure Mexican (rarely a Gringo in sight!), it's clean, service is excellent and the ingredients appear to be (and taste like) good quality.
