Gee, I have not made one of these postings in a while. Can't find any place in that area in any searches, tho that may well be because there are not any.

The quick answer would seem to be to drive back to Aurora or Geneva, but I am wondering if there is something more...

    thanks in advance.

A little east of your target area, but the Bristol Tap, not too far off 34 and 47, serves a good and highly rated grilled hamburger.

    Hi,

I asked my friend the chicken lady who offered the following:

We just went that way the other day and were wondering the same thing. We ate a Subway and I don't even like that food. There has been a restaurant in Sandwich on Rt 34 that utilizes a rail car that has been there for a long time, we cannot attest to the food or abeyance as we have not eaten there.

    Regards,

You might want to check out the Farnsworth House, designed by Mies van der Rohe. A historic preservation group resuced it and now offers tours. I have eaten at the above mentioned Subway out of desparartion too. There are a few Mexican taco huts along Rte 34 but I've never tried them, The Santa Fe Mexican place has really dismal food with salsa the consistency of ketchup. We enjoy the Bridge Street Cafe in Yorkville, basic down home food at a good price. It's on Rte. 47 near the Fox River. A number of new places have sprung upp on Rte. 34, this area is growing rather wildly and I have avoided it for a few months due to road construction on Rte. 34.

It sounds like you can't even get a decent sandwich in Sandwich! What's this world coming to?

I haven't been for a while, but Rick's place on Railroad Street is a typical tavern with sandwiches, steaks, etc. They also have (or had) Sprechter's root beer on tap, always a good sign! You could get a tenderloin sandwich there, as well.
