    Recently moved into Lakeview.

Has anyone been to a place called Stella's Diner?

Back in the day, when they first opened, it was called The Wagon Wheel, complete with somewhat tacky wagon wheel chandelier lighting. In the eighties as the gay population popularized and gentrified the neighborhood (known as New Town back then) they did a gut rehab and changed their name to The Lakefront. A few years ago, they did another expansion (the smoking room in the back) and decided to honor the matriach of the family and call the place Stella's.

I actually prefer it to the Melrose (further North on Broadway @ Belmont) and it's been about 4 years since I lived in that area but I occasionally crave one of their turkey clubs.

Across the street a bit South (closer to Diversey) is Mickey's. They serve a decent burger and I believe on Tuesdays they do BYOS. The S standing for steak....bring one in and they will grill it for you.

It's decent dinner grub. Nothing outlandish. For breakfast, I prefer Melrose. For q quick burger or dinner, Stella's can hit the spot at a reasonable price.

Welcome to the neighborhood intruder. My girlfriend and I live within walking distance of Stella's Diner and we probably go there about once a month. It's decent food at a decent price. The lines appear really long on weekends, and quite honestly, I don't know if it's worth that long of a wait. I'd go earlier in the morning (pre 7AM) or closer to noon -- anything inbetween will probably kill you.

We, too, live a couple of blocks away. My experience is that if you get there by 10 on the weekends the wait isn't too bad. We go several times a month because DH loves the place, but I prefer the Bagel across the street for breakfast. I have a huge beef with the owner, though, because he is way too intrusive with little kids. I don't want you sitting at my table, blowing in my daughter's face, and drawing with marker on her hand, you know?

Delk, I seem to recall it also going under the name "Cinderella" or "Snow White" at some point.

Also, does anyone else think The Bagels prices have become outrageous?

There was a Snow White on the corner of Clark and Wrightwood...
