Two places that immediately come to mind that are nearby and offer both groceries and take-out foods of various sorts are: 1) the
Whole Foods on Huron between State and Dearborn; 2)
L'Appetito, an Italian deli which carries basic imported Italian groceries (at high prices) and also a few cooked and prepared items, including pizza, panini, subs, salads (one branch at 30 East Huron, another one at 875 N. Michigan, i.e., at the underground shopping area at the foot of the Hancock building).
I haven't gotten any prepared foods at
Whole Foods but I would guess that at least some of them are pretty good. Perhaps someone with experience in this regard can chime in. L'Appetito is without doubt a good store and, if I lived near it, I would surely visit it (when compelled to do so by urgent need or laziness), but the prices are (not surprisingly) very high compared to what you can find at similar Italian delis elsewhere in the city and near suburbs.
