Is the Szechwan Restaurant on Ontario, next to the Courtyard by Marriott (near Michigan) any good? I think it is called Szechwan Restaurant. I am staying at the Wyndham and am looking for some local fare where I can eat a quick dinner/lunch.

It's serviceable chinese food, but nothing is really szechwan about it. While not Chinese, I would recommend Silver Spoon for good thai/sushi on Rush instead.

Geez, I haven't been there in probably 20 years.

It was the place to get my boss to take me when I was in college for a high-priced buffet. Back then, the lunch buffet had a great selection, and was better than anything I could get to in the 'burbs, but I couldn't even pretend to know what that place would be like now.

Szechwan Restaurant has many things to recommend it. Despite being underground, the dining room is bright and airy, with white tablecloths that make it a dressier dining experience than the typical Chinese storefronts, nice if you are planning something like a business meal.

The long menu features mostly Chinese-restaurant standards but also such worthwhile specialties as Szechwan crispy beef, tender deep-fried beef with crisp breading and a worstershire-like sauce -- a don't-miss entree in my opinion. I've also enjoyed the pork with mustard greens and some first-rate lobster dishes.
