I managed some delicious mole-laden Mexican (Fiesta Mexicana), The Noodle Zone's Thai-meets-Indian concoction (Red Communist Curry), my first taste of German food at the Chicago Brauhaus (wurst rocks a bit), the Speakeasy Supper Club for a really luxurious repast, The Edgewater Bar for some chicken satay and interesting black bean dip and tortillas, a nice scallop sampler at the HOB foundation room, some over the top breakfast at a close-by diner (WAAAY TOO MUCH FOOD and gravy), and a breakfast of sausage gravy over sweet muffins and an omelette from some joint on Clark (TOO MUCH FOOD!!), then a Greek combo plate at Hellas Greek (?) on Bryn Mawr.

And not far from where we stayed was the Hop Leaf. Verrrry nice. And it offered mussels (done two ways) and frites with aioli served from their kitchen. I just wish I had ordered some.....

And lest I forget, a friend and I managed to stumble into the Billy Goat Tavern and we ate the requisite burgers and drank way too much cheap beer. And somehow, after ingesting far too much food and cheap beer, we still managed to make it to the Rock Bottom for some mind-bending Doppelbock and fried calamari!!! Oh, the stomach was rocking that night my friends....

And one night, my gracious hosts re-heated some Jewel/Osco fried chicken, bought at the height of ripeness (that sell-off of the deli-fare so they don't end up throwing it away) , but they also made some homemade mac and cheese accompanied with some green beans. It rocked. Or maybe that was the vodka and diet 7-Up.

The mussels in ale at the Hopleaf are one of my most common cravings. In fact they sound pretty darn good right now, I might end up there tonight after I finish the laundry!

Glad you enjoyed your trip here!
I used to think the brain was the most important part of the body. Then I realized who was telling me that.
