searched the archives, and i couldn't find anything on point. i need recommendations for a brunch buffet. most preferably on the north side. orange, toast, bongo room and their ilk (in addition to not being buffets), are strictly prohibited. i'm not looking for anything as fancy (read expensive) as the ritz, four seasons, or signature room.

    thanks.

Although it's not the best food of its type, I really like Reza's lunch/brunch buffet. I think it's a little bigger on the weekends and they charge $19.95 per person.

They have a ton of options and all of them are decent. Salads, apps. kebabs, stews, salmon, lox, shrimp, desserts, drinks, etc. None of it is food to go out of your way for, but if you're looking to please a group at a somewhat reasonable price, I think it's a good option.

    North side option is
    5255 N. Clark St.

    Best,
    Michael / EC

EC is exactly right on Reza's lunch buffet. Not necessarily great, but good. If you've got 4+ people they'll even send a van to the loop to pick you up for lunch.

John Barleycorn in Wrigleyville does a decent brunch buffet. Omlets made to order, pancakes, fresh fruit are among the choices. I haven't been in a few years.

Chief O'Neill's does a very nice buffet. Or I know they did. It's been a while since I've been.

This may be stretching it a little bit, but how about dim sum? You could go to the uptown Furama location. I suppose dim sum could be considered a buffet of sorts, it just comes to you instead of you going to it. Plus, outside of Vegas, it's tough to beat the price per person.

O'Donovan's has solved the problem for me several times.
Custom omlettes & all sorts of buffet stuff. Gets crowded.
If you order a bloody mary they serve it with a "short" beer
which kind of filled me up. Buffet 10.95 & drink & tip.
