Thought I'd report in about a disappointing trip to PDH, where we've often enjoyed our meals before. Most importantly, we were surprised to discover that they're now closed during most of the week, open only Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, so don't go mid-week looking for the soup dumplings or you'll obviously be frustrated. It also seems as though they've basically now made PDH an extension of the larger upstairs Phoenix dim sum restaurant, because now instead of a menu they have dim sum carts wheeled through PDH. You could get the old menu if you asked, but for most selections we were directed to the carts. The soup dumplings are still special ordered, but I believe you can now get them as well at the upstairs restaurant, as we saw orders being taken upstairs. All this detracts from the "specialness" of PDH, and the service seemed to be suffering as a result as well. It took 45 minutes for our soup dumplings to arrive, well after we'd eaten other things from the dim sum carts, and they weren't very hot once they got to us. (I like to get mine early in the meal, especially on a cold day.) A few other things that we ordered off the menu got to us late or not at all (the restroom was also really, really icky, which has not been the case in previous visits). Some of this may be explained by the auto show traffic, which made Chinatown particularly busy today, but I wouldn't be really happy with the changeover even if the service had been better. PDH had felt like a separate place from the Phoenix, but now they seem pretty much the same. Any other opinions from recent visitors?

we were there on sunday night (the 13th)

    there were no carts.

    same old menu.

service was kind of iffy though. (a little inattentive & forgot our almond milk tea). the food was piping hot & good.

Perhaps it was due to the auto show traffic coming into the restaurant?
