Just got back from a fabulous dinner at Vie Restaurant in Western Springs. I'm a native of La Grange, and I am amazed by how much this area has exploded.
Vie is my new favorite dining destination to travel to in the western 'burbs. For dinner I had their winter cassoulet made up of braised beef (which had a great nutmeg or allspice taste), chicken confit, garlic sausage, white beans, with pickled roots. It was not a huge portion, which was fine, I was able to finish and not feel completely stuffed. Also, had cinnamon creme brulee for dessert which perfectly complemented the entree. Others in my group had duck breast and lamb, both done to a perfect medium rare. My sister had a free form ravioli which was interesting with mushrooms, onions, and some winter vegetables. It looked delicious.
The room is a nice mix of contemporary and vintage, with what appear to be antique sconces and chadeliers hanging in the room. Also, the chef made it a point to visit every table and was very sincere when inquiring about each of our dining experiences.
