Has anyone had recent (or not so recent) experiences with Evergreen? From my initial research it seems to be one of the more "upscale" chinatown spots. Are there any other restaurants in Chinatown that would have a decent wine list, good service and polished atmosphere?

    Thanks in advance

it's pricey.. but i'm not sure that really defines 'upscale'. the room is pretty ratty looking. there were waitresses picking apart green beans (some type of vegetable, can't quite remember) in a nearby table the last time i was there. the honey glazed (mayo) walnut shrimp was still darn good but.. it's definitely not charlie trotter

Went to Evergreen Saturday night. Really had a fine meal. Ordered whole lobster in X/O sauce, S&P shrimp and beef with orange. While it generally tends toward the common American-Chinese menu, there were plenty of interesting items and the clientel is mixed asian and gringo pretty evenly it seemed.

It is a bit nicer than the other stalwarts in Chinatown, and for my purposes (professional service, booze and solid food), it was perfect for the evening.

The lobster was outstanding, in fact, I'd like to go back and eat some of their other lobster dishes. Salt/Pepper shrimp, shell-on, head-on, was outstanding. Delicate coating, cripsy/salty shells...
