LTH,
Motivated by
Zim's post and Hammond's follow up I met two LTHers at Tropical Time yesterday for lunch.
As Hammond mentions Tropical Time shares space with a check cashing/payday loan store.
When Andrew, owner and chef, spotted my printout of Zim and Hammon's recommendations he was very interested. Lucky they were positive.
Jerk Chicken was very good, as was the jerk sauce. (not pictured)
Oxtail were fall apart tender, delicious, with a very rich sauce.
Escoveitched [sic] Catfish marinated with jerk seasoning, along with Scotch Bonnet peppers in the escabeche, may have been my favorite of the day. Just the right amount of heat.
Curried Goat was, not to be redundant, tender and delicious, with a full rich curry flavor.
Beef Patty which, even though not made in-house, are quite good. Andrew said in Jamaica beef patty between two slices of coco bread, a rich/buttery local bread, are a popular snack.
Side dishes were spot-spot on, plantains
Rice and Beans
Even sauteed cabbage was tasty.
Tropical Time is a place I plan on visiting often, both for friendly conversation with Andrew and excellent Jamaican food. Thanks Zim and Hammond.
Note: There are a few tables, but no table service. Tropical Time is mainly take-away.
Enjoy,
Gary
