Chicago theater dinner

I'm going to see Wicked with a group of people on Friday night. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Turn off your cell phone.
Use the lavatory before being seated.
Don't fidget in your seat or talk during the performance.
Be sure to stretch your legs during intermission.
When leaving be considerate and let the very old and very young exit first.

For restaurant suggestions you need to be a little more specific. Are you planning on dining before or after the production? Within walking distance or just someplace to eat and still make it to the theater on time.

Before (within 6-blocks of the Oriental Theatre):
Light meal, Avec
Nice meal in sophisticated setting, Blackbird
Over the top, Nine
Theater district kitsch, Petterino's

After:

In terms of places within a short walk to the theater, I always like Trattoria No. 10 and 312 Chicago -- both Italian. 312 might have more interesting choices, but I think Trattoria No. 10 tends to be more consistent. I would avoid Petterino's -- overpriced and not very good food.

My top recommendation near the Theatre District is Catch 35. Excellent, somewhat innovative seafood, and you can leave your car with their valet till after the show.

312 Chicago is a good choice. My girlfriend and I along with another couple went there a few weeks ago before Wicked. (Funny how 312 is an official sponsor of Wicked, they have the most to benefit from the show)

Total tab came out to $140 for 4 people with one bottle of wine. It's a really good deal if you ask me.

Except for the chocolate pudding. It's far and away the best chocolate pudding I have ever had in my life. Made from scratch and served slightly warm (but set) with fresh whipped cream. I sometimes endure an entire dinner there just for a chance to get the pudding afterward.
