FarmerFood,
Blackbird is a great spot, lunch or dinner. My parents are in town and my wife and mother had lunch at RL, which they very much enjoyed. I've not been to RL, but it's my wife's current 'Michigan Ave' spot.
I had a slightly less elaborate, though excellent, lunch with my father at Hot Doug's. Andouille for me, Thuringer for him, corn dog to split and tater tots. I asked Hot Doug if he would do tater tots in duck fat on Fri/Sat. No, because the tater tots, being a prefab product, would leave residue and he wants to keep the duck fat as pure/clean as possible.
Dinner at the Everest Room for my wife's birthday, which is it's own post. Short version, one of the meals I've had in years. Impeccable service/view/food/wine.
Enjoy,
Gary
