    I'd be surprised if anyone didn't believe it. It's supremely easy to verify online. Cathy2's post gives us the URL to the online search.

    And the violations Penang got are rather more severe than at most restaurants, but you'd be surprised by how many restaurants get written up. Most, however, don't get shut down.

    For example, at its last inspection in March, Phoenix (to choose one from the same neighborhood) got a number of violations but still passed:

    Two critical violations: Employees not washing hands and improper utensil sanitization
    Six minor violations, mostly related to cleanliness as well.

    Those are the same violations that caused Whole Foods at Ashland and School to be closed a few weeks ago. It took them two days to reopen. Of course, WF has more corporate assets at its disposal to correct a problem than Penang does.
