I am co-hosting a baby shower next month. To make things easier on us hostesses, we'd like to have the shower at a restaurant. The baby's nursery will have a vintage western/cowboy theme. It is not necessary to carry this theme into the restaurant choice since the mother-to-be loves Chinese and Italian. We don't want to have it at a bbq restaurant - there aren't any good choices for the territory we are considering anyway. Group size is about 20-25, budget preferrably less than $25 inclusive of tax & gratuity. Area Preferences: 1. NW suburbs, 2. N suburbs, 3. NW Chicago, 4. N Chicago.

Any ideas? The following have come up on our list so far:
    Simon Lin's Asian Bistro
    Bob Chinn's Crabhouse
    Pacific Rim
    Sun Shui
    Yummy Gourmet
    Biaggi's

    Thanks in advance.

I personally dislike Biaggi's, I think the food and service is better at maggiano's. there is also a Francesca's outpost in Arlington Heights. Also, a GREAT tapas place in the downtown area - LaTasca. They are wonderful there!

My son attended a private party at Maggiano's and I was very impressed with the set up they had. Very nice room upstairs and the service seemed very attentive.

On the other hand, my in-laws (who are very sophisticated and experienced diners) were recently at a private luncheon at Biaggi's and came away with raves.

I'd also consider the type of food the restaurant serves. I recently hosted a baby shower and even though the guest of honor has very adventurous tastes, she had found that her tastebuds (and digestion) had modified in her last trimester. If you haven't already, I'd suggest that you double check with your guest of honor as to whether or not her tastes have changed.

Hi--we've been very well fed guests at Cafe Lucci on Milwaukee in Glenview. They have a party room upstairs, and the Italian food, considering it was a group of 60-70, was amazing.

Cafe Amici, also on Milwaukee, in Niles, recently remodeled; haven't had the food recently, but it was serviceable in the past. Anna
