Please mention both the name of the restaurant and its location (either exact address or street and approximate cross street). This restaurant is in the city of Chicago.

Las Islas Marias --- I've only been the Clark St. location. So I have my hands tied.

Nope. You didn’t think I’d make it so easy did you?

You underestimate my deviousness! No, it’s not the Las Islas Marias in La Villita.

OOk, are we on track believing it is an Islas las Marias? Or should we be looking for another place altogether?

Let me just say there are many, many restaurants in Chicago other than Las Islas Marias.

    Obviously Islas Marias

    Obviously?

I've seen this place before and never had time to stop. Is it on 47th st. out west a bit?

    Excellent, that’s the place!

El Muelle (“The Wharf”), 4253 W 47th Street
    Image

El Muelle is, to the best of my knowledge, the only restaurant in Chicago that has two giant langostinos on its roof (only the eastern one is pictured). El Muelle is one of a rapidly increasing number of Mexican seafood restaurants on the far southwest side. Everyone knows of Las Islas Marias (5401 S Pulaski) of course but within a couple miles there’s also El Veneno (not to mention Shark, the Peruvian seafood place; scroll down in thread for mention of El V), Hacienda del Sol, Las Brisas, Viña del Mar (5087 S Archer), and Luis Mariscos (4247 W 47th). I’m sure there are many more.

Even if you don’t like fish, the several blocks of 47th Street just west of Pulaski have some other worthwhile stops: Illinois Bar & Grill (4135 W), a comfortable neighborhood bar serving huge, pretty good burgers and John’s Deli (4145 W), an old Polish butcher who stuffs some nice sausages and makes his own pickles.
