Garrett Ripley’s Announces New Chef & New Gastro-Pub Menu Release Party
On May 7th, from 6-9pm Garrett Ripley’s will host a New Menu Release Party launching a new gastro-pub concept, which includes a new Executive Chef, new menu, new martini & cocktail list and forty new wines by the glass. Effen Vodka is sponsoring the event by providing free cocktails during the event. Menu items will be complimentary and served cocktail style. Music will be provided by D.J. (r.u.o.k.).
Executive Chef, Marianne Sundquist entered the Chicago food scene at Spiaggia and then moved on to Avenues, in the Peninsula Hotel, where as the first woman to cook on the four-man line, she worked with Chef Graham Elliot Bowles. Sundquist has also worked at Damico Cucina in Minneapolis, studied tea and management at TeaGschwendner in Chicago and is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute in NYC.
While Garrett’s has been primarily known as an Irish bar in River North, the new menu still nods towards its English and Irish roots, with classics such as shepherds pie and fish & chips. The menu shifts into gastro-pub fare with items such as braised rabbit ricotta gnocchi, stewed pepper salad with fennel, prosciutto & chevre, porcini risotto and Chilean cobia with tomato chutney to name a few. The menu also has a selection of comfort food favorites with a twist--homemade tater tots with bbq, funnel cakes with honey & rose sugar & chipotle hot fudge sundaes.
